We've all seen them, some of us have tried them, but the vast majority of photographers never make it through an entire year of one photo a day. What about the viewers? Most never pay a second visit to a project, not when the interwebs are simply filled with stunning images.
To that end, I don't think I will be completing a 365 Project anytime soon. As a student, I don't feel I could devote the time to creating a great photo for every day of the year, let alone a brilliant photo, so why would I? I'm not out to produce decent images, or even good ones.
I want to do more.
So here I am, at the precipice of a year-long journey. A lot will be changing for me over the next 52 weeks as I graduate from UC Davis, wade into the vast wasteland of unemployment, and do my best to document the world around me through photography. Through it all, I plan on delivering to you 52 images, representing the next year of my existence on this planet. With any luck, I'll make it, and bring back one great photo at a time, week after week. I might even learn a thing or two about myself along the way.
So there we go. It all starts this weekend as I make a trip out to Bodega, California for my continuing research project here at UCD. Keep an eye out this week, and if you've got the patience, for the next 51 weeks.
It's going to be a wild ride.
